Microsoft Outage LIVE: Microsoft’s Windows outage impacts airlines, financial institutions and broadcasters on a global scale

Microsoft’s Azure platform faced a global outage after a new update from CrowdStrike, the outage impacted air-travel globally along with an impact on stock markets and Microsoft and CloudStrike’s share prices.

1. Microsoft said on July 19 that it is investigating a host of issues with Azure in the Central U.S. region, but users in India, and globally, are also raising complaints. 
2.  The outage has caused disruptions in air traffic, forcing airports to shift to manual operations. Brokerages and stock exchanges have also been hit as a result of the tech outage. Microsoft while acknowledging the outage has said “a resolution is forthcoming”.
3. The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team, CERT-In, has issued a severity rating of ‘Critical’ for the incident. 
4. However, NSE and BSE have said that they have not been impacted due to the global outage of Microsoft systems amid reports of disruptions. 
5. On the other hand, India’s Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting, Electronics & Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, said the government was in touch with Microsoft and that the reason for the outage had been identified.
